Who is mollygirl?
I mean, maybe you don't care at all, who I am, and if you don't that is perfectly fine. I suggest skipping this page. But if you are interested in learning a little bit about who I am as a person, this is the place to be!
I am a 20 year old young woman and a junior in college. I am studying elementary education and hope to be a teacher in just a few years. Also, as shown in the picture above, I am an avid runner. I participate in Cross Country and Track and Field at the college I now attend and have had two successful years. This year I'm hoping to break 18:30 in Cross Country for the 5k, as that would be a huge accomplishment, as long as injuries clear up and don't stand in my way!
I'm single, not that it should matter to any of you.... but anywho, the main man in my life right now is my beautiful golden retriever Aslan. He is 6 1/2 years old and I love him. He is a loyal companion and will never judge me for my mistakes and flaws. At 4 years old he was diagnosed with epilepsy, which was an extremely scary experience to watch him have his first seizure... now 2 1/2 years later he is on medication and hasn't had a seizure in 16 months! yay! The medicine is a life long medicine though and a little worrying as it has the potential to cause liver failure.. about a 20% risk. I can only pray he won't be in that 20% or if he is we catch it early.
Also, about a year ago he was diagnosed with another problem - megaesophagus. This means that Aslan's esophagus no longer functions. Normally muscles in the esophagus push food down to the stomach, but his is more of a limp muscle. This means when Aslan eats his food will come right back out since it just sits in his esophagus. To deal with this issue he is fed blended dog food mixed with water, and must sit in what is called a bailey chair for 20 minutes after he eats. This allows gravity to pull his food down to his stomach. The big risk is aspiration pneumonia, but so far we have avoided this danger.
And yet Aslan is enjoying life! Nobody has any idea by looking at him that he has some serious health issues, and every penny and amount of time I spend on him is 100% worth it. He lives life just like any other dog and I am so thrilled that the Lord has blessed me with him. And I am grateful for every single day I get with him. If you are an animal lover, then I'm sure you can understand where I am coming from :)
Also, the most important thing I mention is that I'm a Christian. I love the Lord and all he has done in my life. I have flaws and I mess up time and time again, but he is a loving and patient God. If you aren't a Christian, don't think that I hold that against you, I don't. I'm not judgmental of anyone or of their religion. I may disagree with your religion, but that doesn't mean I will act any differently to you. If you haven't considered Christianity, then I suggest looking into it. Even just open up the Bible and read some of the Lord's word. Ask him if he is there to reveal himself to you, and I'm sure he will. He has changed my entire life in so many ways and my ultimate goal in life is to follow the Lord where he leads me until he calls me home. No matter where that road may go.
Thank you for reading this, and finding out a little bit about me. If you ever want to talk, feel free to shoot me a pm! I don't bite and I would love to get to know you :) I apologize in advance if I'm busy and slow to reply though, sometimes life gets a little hectic but I will do my best! Hope to talk to you soon!
